5 Bites – Understanding the Social Drivers of Health (SDOH) in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Primary Prevention

Healthy People 2030 defines the Social Determinants of Health as “the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.” What does this mean for primary prevention efforts? In alignment with the California Behavioral Health Prevention Plan (coming from DHCS in late 2023), this 5 Bites explores the five domains of the SDOH and aligns them with best practices to support primary prevention throughout California.
