ABHPC Action Lab 2026
Prevention in Action: Everyday Heroes
May 12-14, 2026
This annual gathering offered in-person training and technical assistance opportunities for prevention professionals throughout California. The three-day event featured a diverse range of training topics that supported emerging, intermediate, and advanced preventionists. The 2026 event space focused on workforce expansion and sustainability; engaging transitional-age youth populations; understanding the role of social drivers of health in primary prevention; supporting the prevention field and its efforts through collaboration, community, compassion, and care; and more. 16 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) were provided free of charge for all participants who attended the full three-day training event.
All prevention providers in California were welcome. Those who support behavioral health prevention efforts at the state, county, or community level were invited to attend. Community sectors that were ideal for participation included county-level prevention professionals; state-level prevention professionals; Tribal governments and organizations; community coalition members and local champions; school-based and higher education behavioral health professionals; youth-serving organizations; community-based organizations; California primary prevention partners (such as Elevate Youth California and Friday Night Live grantees); and sector partners who support primary prevention, including peers, those with lived experience, young adults, parents, caregivers, and community members.
There were no costs associated with registering for the training event. Some meals were also automatically covered as part of attending. Costs not included were travel (e.g., mileage, flights, tolls), meals outside the training space, lodging, and other associated travel expenses. If you were a county-level prevention provider, the Substance Use Prevention, Treatment, and Recovery Services Block Grant (SUBG) was eligible to cover the costs associated with attending the ABHPC Action Lab Training Event. Beyond the SUBG, many other prevention grants and funding sources were allowed for attending training spaces.
