Enhancing Prevention Efforts:
Prevention Application Community of Practice

Overview:

To build effective prevention strategies, we must first understand the overlapping root causes that drive youth and community outcomes. This interactive session invites prevention professionals to map a shared risk and protective factor (SRPF) framework across their local landscapes, linking substance use prevention with social drivers of health, such as economic insecurity, systemic racism, displacement, and community disconnection. Using practical tools like asset mapping, youth storytelling, and localized data, participants will explore how cultural connection, school belonging, and community safety serve as protective factors across systems. Emphasizing a community-centered approach, this session supports participants in identifying how SRPFs show up in their current prevention work and how to elevate local knowledge in planning efforts. Together, we’ll learn how to align these insights with CSAP strategies and the SPF to inform more collaborative, community-centered solutions.
